Favorite Shots: June

Girls FencingBaby Upside-Down CakeS and S with backlight

This is Jane your friendly Production Manager with the first in a weekly series: favorite shots I’ve handled this week. I’m hoping to post one or two shots each week; usually the ones that made someone in the back of the studio giggle or say “awww”. And to start things off right, this week you get three. :) That cute couple on the right are Shanna and Scott, who won our raffle for a free engagement session at the Seattle Wedding Show this year.

Video clip shows Janet Klinger at work.

Aaron Horton created this video clip to illustrate how Janet works. We love working with Aaron. Great eye, attitude, and bends over backwards.

The Phinney Farmers Market Feeds Me Inside and Out

_mg_0485.jpg

Finally. It opened tonight!!! Like a child I’ve been awaiting the opening of the new Phinney Farmers Market, hosted in the parking lot of the PNA at 66th and Phinney Ave N. We bought a radio flyer red wagon on Craigslist, allegedly for Ellie’s 3rd birthday, but let’s face it. I’ve always wanted one, and so has Tim. Carrying Market goods and a 3 year old– perfect excuse! I changed my babysitting coverage for Friday so Ellie and I could shop and then meet Tim for a tasty dinner.

The produce was largely organic, all local, and freshly picked. The cheese was easily sampled, expensive but worth it. The breads and baked goods were fresh, organic, wholesome AND tasty. The crepes were to die for. (Oh, to have nine lives…) The thin crust pizza’s were cooked in brick ovens and filled the Market with intense aromas.
The best part was the community camaraderie. I saw so many enjoyable people, both known and new to me. Clients, neighbors, former pre-school parents and kids, future pre-school parents, and friendly people I shared a table with over dinner, coming in waves. I felt like I was enjoying a giant neighborhood party. I can say, knowing it will incorrectly sound like an exaggeration, that I was touched to my inner-being. This is exactly the “center” I’ve been craving for. Best of all, I only rarely work on Fridays, so I plan to make this a weekly event.

Last call for pets! Pet stock shoot Wednesday, June 13th!

Janet’s space for pets is booking quickly, but we do have a few spots left if you think your dog, cat, iguana or parrot have what it takes to strut their stuff for the camera. We are especially interested in exotic animals, or domestic pets with unusual features or mobility issues. Stock photos taken can be used in advertising, magazines, promotional use or for nearly any purpose…so a release must be signed by the owner before photos will be taken. Owners are welcome to participate with their pet, if they sign a model release. You will receive a CD of the images for personal use within 60 days of the shoot. Sessions are 15 minutes long and we have some spots open between 10am and 2pm - so please call the studio if you are interested!  There is no charge for Janet’s time, but we are accepting donations of $10, $20 or whatever you feel inclined to give for the ASCPA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).  Thanks to Patti at PJ’s Paws and Claws in Magnolia for all her help in casting for this event!

Seattle Model Nick Skinner. Our Most Valuble Player

Nick Skinner not only looks great in photographs, his helpful, thoughtful personality earns him Most Valuable Player for the fashion Infusion sessions. Nick not only worked long hours, but carried dry wall, closed dirty freight elevator gates, rearranged furniture, and was on board to help in any way he could “to make the sessions go smoothly”. I didn’t ask for any of this. Nick took these tasks upon himself. Attitude looks great. Attitude works great! Thank you Nick, for exceeding the call of duty!

The location for this series of photos is Pravda Studios on Capital Hill. They bent over backwards for us.
